Know your officials
The citizenship test asks who represents you. Those answers depend on where you live and change with every election, so they are not in the question bank. Look yours up before the test.
What you are expected to know
Discover Canada sets aside two pages for you to fill in by hand. They cover three levels of government:
- Federal. The head of state, the Governor General, the Prime Minister, the party in power, the Leader of the Opposition, your member of Parliament, and the name of your electoral district.
- Provincial or territorial. The Lieutenant Governor or Commissioner, the Premier, the party in power, and your own representative in the legislature.
- Municipal. The name of your municipality and its mayor or reeve.
Where to look them up
Enter your postal code on the first two and you get the people who represent you by name.

The roles themselves are testable
What a Governor General does, who appoints a senator, how a bill becomes law — those do not change, and the question bank covers them. It is only the names that are left out.
